Your shop list:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- Olive oil
Instructions:
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Mix until well combined.
-
Add the warm water to the dry ingredients, and mix until a sticky dough forms.
-
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 12-18 hours. The dough should double in size and be dotted with bubbles.
-
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place a cast iron skillet in the oven to heat up.
-
Meanwhile, dust a clean surface with flour and turn out the risen dough. Gently shape it into a ball, being careful not to deflate it.
-
Once the skillet is hot, remove it from the oven and drizzle a little olive oil into the skillet. Place the dough ball into the skillet and cover with a lid or aluminum foil.
-
Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid or foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crusty.
-
Use a spatula to carefully remove the bread from the skillet and let it cool on a wire rack.
-
Once the bread has cooled, slice and serve with butter, jam, or your favorite toppings.
Enjoy your delicious homemade bread, fresh from the oven!
